Intuitive Eating
Discussion Actions
Last night we had a Premium member call digging into Intuitive Eating. It’s definitely a rich topic and I realized as we moved through the call that we’ve only really begun to scratch the surface of what it means to relate to not only food in this way, but life in general. As we talked about in the call Intuition is something that is often associated with our “gut feelings” but as we start to peel apart just what those gut feelings are often, in fact I’m willing to bet more often than not, these feelings are more emotive than intuitive.
I can only remember a few times in my life when I experienced a piercing clarity that emerged straight from my inner core, where my thoughts and emotions were byproducts created after this movement of clarity. Experiencing that amount of clarity and certainty is so profound and powerful I find it hard to maintain for more than short bursts. And as we talk about on the call, this inability to sustain our attention on even just the topic of intuition is quite interesting. It’s as though we’re starting to see into something that we can’t quite hold at our level of development. You really get the sense that this is something quite new, stretching us well beyond our comfort zone, to the point where we have to make conscious effort just to think about what it means that we have this ability to intuit. It makes me think that the intuition is always there, this pre-knowing, or sense of direction, is always available to us, we just have to refine our skills of seeing so that we can perceive it and develop our capacity to hold it. Which I think is becoming more and more clear requires nothing less than radical self transformation.
An audio clip from the call will be posted shortly under the Q&A Course. I invite you to check it out (it’s under 30 mins) and share your thoughts on intuition and what it means to engage our intuition when it comes to food.
Warmly,
Amber

Yes, I think this is right. There is so much “stuff on the lens” so to speak. So many thoughts, feelings, sensations that we automatically respond to… and this does not leave room for the seeing of what is always there. The well-spring of intuition itself!
This is why mediation and mindfulness practice is so important. It creates that space where clarity can arise and be acknowledged.
